The Legends Aquatic Center is a state-of-the-art LEED-certified facility that was constructed by Vance Brown Builders and designed by ELS Architecture and Urban. The facility features three single-level buildings surrounding a 52-meter training pool with a two-centerline dive tower and springboards, a warm-water spa, locker rooms, and a multipurpose room.
The building's rectangular structure was constructed out of solid stack bond concrete masonry layered with a perforated metal skin, with colored translucent glass weaving in and out of the structure to provide natural light while maintaining privacy. The facility opened in fall 2016 and serves as the exclusive training home for Cal's world-class men's and women's swimming, diving, and water polo programs, ending the teams' previous reliance on sharing facilities with recreational swimmers.
