The Ellison Conservation Center for Wildlife Care is a state-of-the-art wildlife rehabilitation facility constructed by Vance Brown Builders on 190 acres in Saratoga's Santa Cruz Mountains, featuring multiple specialized buildings including an intake facility, animal hospital, and 50 wildlife enclosures.
The facility officially opened in March 2025 and can care for up to 600 wild animals simultaneously, with the capacity to treat approximately 8,500 "patients" annually.
The project represents a comprehensive wildlife care complex designed to provide rehabilitation services for sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife from three Bay Area counties. The construction presented unique challenges due to the site's complex geology, including landsliding, multiple traces of the San Andreas fault, and its location within the mapped Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zone, as well as extensive quarrying history and undocumented fill.
