The Ronald McDonald House expansion at Stanford created a transformative 52,000-square-foot addition to the existing facility, making it the largest Ronald McDonald House in the world upon completion. Vance Brown Builders served as the general contractor for this ambitious project, which expanded the facility from 47 to 123 guest rooms and included comprehensive amenities such as large kitchen and dining areas, age-specific activity rooms, a library, fitness center, rehabilitation room, underground parking, and a spa for free haircuts and massages.
The construction timeline was approximately 14-15 months, beginning in July 2014, with the new Arrillaga Family Center opening in 2016 and the renovated legacy building (Taube Family Center) completing the campus in 2017. The expansion created a unified campus designed to serve families of critically ill children receiving treatment at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and other Bay Area medical facilities.
